Shadow, Orbs and Knocks

Suffolk Investigative Ghost Hunting Team / Paranormal S.I.G.H.T.

Investigation of Raynham Hall Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York

Raynham Hall is considered to be the most haunted museum in long Island.

Not only does its evolved past with the American revolution and decades of the Townsend family come to life in this unique home. To this day it still has an air about it.

Once you step through the threshold the residual energy that is lost with in its walls engulfs it visitors.

Raynham Hall hosts a true haunt for any ghost seeker that is truly searching for a moment of its past.

When I first walked into Raynham Hall I was greeted by Steve Waldenburg the museums events coordinator. I felt an overwhelming sensation which seemed that the air was thick like a sauna.

We spoke for a while and coordinated a ghost hunt for sometime later.

I immediately contacted the other group members of Paranormal S.I.G.H.T.

With Colleen Britton, Dave Smith and then new comer Steve Linthwaite.

We found a date that we all could agree upon to began the investigation.

As usual I showed up early to look around so I could guide the group to hot spots provided I found any.

I did notice that the whole house was riddled with conduit which put the EMF fields off the charts.

If left stagnate an electromagnetic field will start to accumulate. So, when someone would walk into a room they would receive a big spike on the EMF detector which would indicate a false reading. As the accumulated field would also disburse shortly after. One would think that they had encountered a ghost.

So I packed up my EMF detector and turned on my audio recorder in the event I capture a disembodied voice. I also noticed that the museum had spot lights and if I were to use an infra red camera it would leave an impression on the area the light was directed at. Such as the floor or furniture and so on.

Another problem I found was that the home was not insulated. Which means that I could hear conversations though out the home. Other than that I didn't find anything that would interfere with our investigation.

Steve and I did a quick interview for the archives of S.I.G.H.T. Investigations. Then soon later the group started rolling in.

Colleen as usual was on top of her game and started off by documenting the time and date and so on.

Dave walked off with Steve and they ventured off towards the kitchen.

Colleen and I walked around on the first floor. Suddenly, she began to sense a presence in one of the rooms off the by the stairwell. I then noticed what appeared to be a shadow like figure ducking back into the dining room as if it was peering from around the corner. Colleen and I raced over and took a few random pictures. Later we found an orb in one picture. In the same area I saw the shadow.

There was a tenseness in the home as we roamed from room to room and through its old corridors.

At one point Dave got a curious spike on his K2 meter were they cooked the food in the kitchen.

For what ever reason there was a significant amount of electromagnetic field in the area.

After an hour of investigating Jen a colleague of Steve Waldenburg, offered to show us a room that was under construction and closed off on the third floor. When Jen, Colleen, and myself entered the room we saw that they were having repairs done to the plaster that was falling off due to rain damage. The room was bare and the door was removed and replaced with a sheet of plastic to keep plaster dust from contaminating the home and its antiques. I made some ridicules remark and Colleen remarked on the size of the room.

Suddenly the plastic sheet had blown frantically into the room. I made another silly comment that spirits can't go through plastic. Although in hind sight there was no real reason for that to happen. If it was a vacuum effect it would blow out wards not inwards towards us. And this happened after we were in the room for sometime.

After words Colleen and I broke off and she continued her investigation in the nursery and the adjacent bedroom. Later the video evidence reveled a shadow following her a short time after she had left the room. It seemed so natural that it wasn't caught at first until I fount out that the light source was on her right side as she exited the room from her left which would not cause a show to appear.

I ventured off to Sara's room and into the slaves quarters then into the attic.

There is where I felt the most uncomfortable. I pointed the camera into the direction off to my right where a couple of old trunks were. I started talking and asked my average paranormal sleuthing questions. Not expecting an answer but eager for a response. I decided to point my camera in the opposite direction, to the left of me. It was darker at that end of the attic on that side even with the light on.

I asked if you can hear me could you tap for me? Suddenly a tap came from that direction.

I was excited to receive a response unfortunately that was the only one.

I exited the attic and walked through the slaves quarters which is also converted into a storage area.

I asked more questions and received tapping responses but I couldn't confirm them due to the hot water pipes that warm the home were running through that room. And in the middle of February on the east coast of the United States they better be on! It gets brutally cold that time of year.

Although, An over whelming smell of body odor did accompany those taps. Was that the smell of the slaves from years ago who use to reside in that room? Where they in the room with me ? Where they responding to my taps?

I left the slaves quarters after spending some time in there and went back into Sara's room. Our time at Raynham Hall was up and we gathered everyone up along with our equipment and I took a random

picture down the stairs from the second floor.

After viewing the photo I found an orb. After looking at it I noticed that it seemed to have a descriptive look about it and I enhanced it to reveal what appears to be a face.

A face with eyes and a grin. This phenomenon is called a Pareidolia. I have to say our experience at Raynham Hall Museum was an exciting one. And our hosts where more than generous with their time

and hospitality.

I would like to Thank the following for everything and allowing our group to visit their lovely museum.
